Tips On Surviving A Long-Haul Flight

Are we the only ones who have always asked for an anywhere door in our prayers? Hah! Well, that wish never came true for obvious reasons. xD

So we are still taking long-haul flights to traverse from one corner of the world to another. But! I wonder who does not find journeys through the clouds fun and interesting. You? Your friend?

Have you ever struggled to survive a long-haul flight? Or are you scared to board your first long-haul flight? Why worry when Bakka Bags is here. Today we are back with another blog post for our readers to help them get equipped with the few tips one must be acquainted with to survive a long-haul flight.

Below we have shared a few tips to survive a long-haul flight. So, why wait? Get settled in for a good read.

  1. Wear a Comfortable Outfit

That skin-tight pair of jeans and fitted crop top might make you feel young again, but trust us, if you wear them on a long-haul flight, you will not even look at that outfit ever. Whenever it comes to covering a long distance, try sticking to comfy chic clothes with minimal or no layers.

And during winters, do not forget to take warm comfy socks and an additional cushion to lean on. Also take your favorite scarf, pashmina, and layers for beating cottage chills.

  1. Opt for a Soft and Versatile Bag

Don’t limit yourself and carry every sort of personal stuff you find difficult to live without. But do remember, you will have to stow your bags and personal items under the seat. Hence, try carrying a soft and adaptable bag because these kinds of bags are easy to squeeze and comfortable to carry.

  1. Take Snacks and Munchies

One of the best parts of a long-haul flight is the food offered. But what about if the hunger strikes when lights are gone and flight attendants are nowhere to be located? What would you do then? That’s why it’s better to carry your personal water bottle along with some snacks and munchies.

  1. Avoid Wearing Makeup

Aren’t dry cabin air and decreased blood flow enough to be dealt with by your skin that you want to wear maquillage on it? Trust us, your skin would hate you for this. xD

Instead of wearing pore-clogging items, wear moisturizers and skin serums, and don’t forget to carry moisturizing lip balms to avoid getting chapped lips. Between, apply eye lubricators quite often to deal with irritation.

  1. Keep Yourself Hydrated

Flight cabins are as dry as deserts as they keep reloading cabin air with the air outside which results in dry and dull skin. Dehydration can be a serious problem and spoil your trip, therefore, keep yourself hydrated and drink roughly 8 ounces per hour (as the experts suggest). Along with that, also avoid the consumption of caffeine and alcohol in big amounts.

  1. Essentials You Must Carry

You will be flying for like 12-14 hours, so it’s worth carrying a few sleep essentials. Start with a comfy pillow and invest in a good-quality lightweight blanket. Along with that, take your sleep mask,  face mask (obviously), sanitizers, a pair of good ear plugs, and basic toiletries like toothpaste, toothbrush, and paper soaps  (to feel fresh when you land).

  1. Reserve a Good Seat

One of the most important long-haul flight tips is to pre-book a good seat, if possible. Like:

  • If you look forward to more leg room, make sure you get exit rows
  • If you want to avoid kids, try to avoid the front rows of the plane as this is where there are certain provisions for tots on international flights.
  • To get quick access to the loos, opt for an aisle seat.

  1. Download Your Favorite Playlists and Podcasts

It would be really difficult to survive on a long-haul flight without an internet connection. Therefore, don’t forget to download your favorite music playlists and podcasts. This will not only help you relax but will also keep you entertained. And and and, don’t forget to carry your earphones or headphones (‘cause you would never want to disturb your seatmate/es, right?)

  1. Practice Mindfulness

It’s human behavior to recall things that have gone bad in the past or things you are most scared to face while you are all alone. Even the smallest incidents feel like major issues, especially if you are an overthinker. Just keep things that make you happy in your mind and distract your mind from all the bad events that have occurred in your life, you may even practice meditation, and if none of them suits you, just take a deep breath and sleep.

  1. Befriend the Crew

Talk to your seatmates, come out of your comfort zone, and be forthcoming and friendly. If you keep yourself engaged in conversations, you keep disturbing thoughts away. Also, you won’t find it difficult to cut time there.

  1. Be Productive

You may take some of your pending office work to the flight. Well, we are obviously not asking you to be an Arjun Saluja from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, but are suggesting you be productive (only during the flying time) and mark your long-awaited pending work list all checked. This way, you will not get bored and will be able to complete all your pending tasks.

  1. Combat Jet Lag

It doesn’t mean the journey is over just because you have disembarked. To combat jet lag, take quick naps, get as much daylight as you can, exercise whenever you can, and keep yourself hydrated. This way you will be able to get back to normal in a day or two.
