Rain-Rain Please Stay

Rain-Rain Please Stay

Are you from the category that delays travel plans during the rainy season? Are you scared of the unpredictable rains that you think might disrupt your long-awaited holiday? If yes, then it is time to re-think and re-draft your plans. Monsoon tourism is increasingly gaining popularity as the number of travelers desiring to travel to off-beat destinations during the monsoon increases.

I think monsoons are the best time of the year if we want to experience the true beauty of nature. I wonder if there’s anything that can beat those cool winds, lush green valleys, chirping birds, that calm and soothing environment, relaxing waterfalls, or just the mere thought of relishing life looking out of the window of a luxurious hotel room while sipping chai alongside hot delicious pakoras, there isn’t, right?

We present to you some of the unique yet satisfying monsoon travel experiences that can’t be more pleasing than this time of the year.

  1. Monsoon Treks

India is a country blessed with soothing rains, wonderful green lands, and innumerable captivating hill stations that offer incredible monsoon trekking experiences. Monsoon treks go from effortless and enjoyable trails to adventurous and challenging mountain climbing.

Nature lovers can’t say no to trekking, what do you think? You have two options to choose from, am I right, or am I right? Oh! Did I just give you similar choices? My bad, but the thing is, it’s difficult for me to find an alternative answer to this question.

Can you imagine trekking in the natural showers, taking brief stops at tea stalls, enjoying that lip-smacking mountain Maggi, beautiful misty skies wanting to kiss your forehead, and the panoramic view from the mountain top? God! The mere thought of this gives me goosebumps.

If you want to go trekking in India, Maharashtra offers some extraordinarily wonderful monsoon trek options. My personal favorites are Lonavala, Igatpuri, Kalsubai Peak Trek, Nane Ghat, Lohagad Fort, Karjat, Rajmachi Fort Trek, and Bhandardara, Malshej Ghat, and Harishchandra trek.

  1. Fun at Waterfalls

Oh, my dear monsoon season, thank you for arriving. It’s time for all the water lovers like me to check out some amazingly incredible waterfalls in India. Stopping by an eye-catching waterfall sounds romantic, doesn’t it? How satisfying and a calming experience it would be to stare at the gushy milky-white waters, I can even spend hours doing that.

Kids, youngsters, or oldies, no matter which category you belong to, you can’t deny the fact that bathing, swimming, and splashing in relaxing waterfalls is food for the soul. In addition to that, there are many adventurous activities some of the waterfalls offer for adventure lovers, one of them being waterfall rappelling, a must-try for all the daredevils out there.

Some favored waterfalls along the west coast are Bhivpuri Falls, Jog Falls, Dhudhsagar Falls, Karjat (famous for water rappelling too), Lonavala, Athirapally Falls, Meenmutty Falls, Kerala, Kune Waterfalls, Mahabaleshwar, and Lingmala Falls.

  1. Rain Dance

Dancing in the rain and getting drenched in cool monsoon rains has its own fun. You enjoy picturesque views of nature while enjoying freshly brewed coffee and fried pakoras. Basically, monsoons welcome change after scorchingly hot summers experienced in most of the metro cities of India.

Some of the most popular hill stations to enjoy natural rain dance are Mount Abu, Ooty, Mahabaleshwar, Kodaikanal, Panchgani, and Munnar.

  1. Just Relax and Enjoy

Want to take a break from your work life, daily routines, and other problems? I can’t think of anything better than a monsoon holiday given what time of the year it is. If you live in a place where you can effortlessly enjoy the rain, take a day off, wake up early, get your daily chores done, open the window of your room, sit back on a couch with a cup of coffee or masala tea (whatever you like) and enjoy the birds chirping, fresh cool breezes, and relax.

If you are looking forward to going somewhere far away, take a week off and book a flight to Kerala or Goa (to enjoy the best monsoon). You may even visit outdoor oil massage centers like Thekkady, Munnar, and Kumarakom Lake. Along with that, I would suggest you also experience a houseboat ride in the wonderful backwaters of Kerala, there you will find beautiful lush green valleys and pleasant monsoon scents.

No matter whether you choose to relish rain from the comfort of your home or resolve to relax by the beach, I can assure you are going to love this unplanned holiday of yours.

  1. Enjoy the Monsoon Delicacies

Monsoon showers naturally come with enormous food cravings. And you can’t say you enjoyed the monsoon if you didn’t appreciate the mouth-watering monsoon special dishes. I think there is nothing more monsoon than rain-soaked hair, misty skies, muddy aroma, fresh air, shades of green, and a kadak adrak chai (hot ginger tea). I am craving it already, that fragrance and that lip-smacking taste, oh God!

In addition to this, Vada Pav (the undisputed king of Mumbai’s street food), Assorted Pakoras with coriander and garlic chutney, charcoal roasted Corn sprinkled with hot tangy spices, freshly fried Samosas, Momos (the love of my life), Kachories, Hot soups (served with rich creams, freshly chopped coriander, and bread crumbs), and that delicious Aalo Tikki chat are a few monsoon delicacies you just can’t miss at any cost.

PS: Please don’t curse me for craving all these mouth-watering dishes right now. Just order them and bless me afterward.
